The Phantom of the Opera

At first, our impression for the Phantom was that he was the antagonist of the story. At first, when we met him there comes Phantom as the third party of the deadly love triangle of Ms. Christine Daae and Raoul. He was the cause of the hindrance of their love. He wants that he can own Christine for he liked her so much even before. This Phantom has been living down in the opera house for most of his life, wearing a mask for he was afraid to show his face because of a supposed horrible disfigurement and suspicion of people in general. He makes a comfortable living by tricking the owners of the opera house to pay him a monthly salary. The Phantom takes a liking to Christine and guides her singing career. Unbeknown to her, he was the great teacher of Christine. Somehow, he has only been a disembodied voice to her, and she has wondered if he wasn't the spirit of her dead father directing her career.

Unfortunately,we jumped into conclusion and our conclusion was very wrong. How could be the title of the movie was the antagonist? So obviously, our impression was wrong. The Phantom was the protagonist. If that so, who was then the antagonist of the story?the one who made the story more interesting? Is it Raoul,Ms. Christine Daae nor Madame Giry? Who was really is it? Or can we say, is it necessary to conclude that the antagonist should be man nor woman? What if i say, it is not human but the destiny, the event.

All knowing Madame Giry attempts to explain the Phantom's origin for she knows everything about Phantom. I felt so pity for him because it is not his mistake why he was lack of his identity. It is so hard for now to express his love to Ms. Christine. It was the destiny that make it all. "Let destiny just guide us. But nevet let it be our basis in the flow of our lives."

"To love someone is to have courage to walk away and let go the other one who wishes to be free, no matter how much it hurts." I really appreciate the love of Phantom because eventhough how deep is his love for Christine, at the end he set her free even how much it hurts. We should consider that living without that someone we love truly is very miserable.
